Fun or Folly

‘Italian designers Dolce & Gabbana said on Tuesday they will withdraw an advertisement which shows a man pinning a woman down by her wrists after widespread criticism it condoned violence against women.  The advertisement showed a bare-chested man holding down a woman by her wrists while other men look casually on. “We were looking to recreate a game of seduction in the campaign and highlight the beauty of our collections,” the designers said.

“The debate rages over whether or not this image represents an artistic interpretation of a sexual fantasy, or if it just glorifies rape. As the fashion industry continues to push the envelope and strives to remain cutting edge the line between risque and offensive continues to blur.”

For the thousands of women and girls forced into sexual slavery due to a demand for sex fueled by the false personification of females…there is no debate.
